Games like Splasher

Splasher turned the paint gun into a platformer mechanic. Here is what it set up, and what you can look for next.

What Splasher is

Splasher is a 2D platformer made in Unity, released on 7 February 2017 on PC, then on consoles. Romain Claude, a former game and level designer on Rayman Origins and Legends, worked on its game and level design. Everything happens in the Inkorp factory.

Its idea: a paint gun whose colours change what you can do with a surface. The rules stay readable, and each level becomes a painting puzzle.

What Couleur takes from it

Couleur borrows the feel, not the game: a cartoon platformer with inked outlines, where the dye is the central mechanic.

  • Three dyes, each with its own effect: water, madder, saffron.
  • Ink that never runs out: the level, not the ink, decides where the dye holds.
  • Checkpoints, so a fall does not send you back to the start.

No image or level from Splasher is reused. The characters, logos and sets are Couleur’s own.
